Ditan Park and I is a philosophizing and lyric prose. Shi Tiesheng, the author,taking the Ditan Park as his emotional carrier and spiritual support, expresses theinspiration of fate and things on life and death, as well as his missing his mother. Inthe prose, its written words are unaffected and its emotion is sincere, filled withthought for humanity and life wisdom. There are totally13039words in the wholeprose.In this translation practice, the writer, by means of translation, tries his best toreappear to its content and its emotion in idiomatic English in fidelity. The writer’smain translation concept is domesticating translation, and his main translationmethods are category shift, literal translation and sense-for-sense translation. Beforetranslating, the writer reads the prose carefully and some papers written by somescholars, to deeply understand the prose.In the process of translating, the writer has some problems, including how totranslate the simple words, how to translate long sentences for expressing the author’semotion and how to translate the rhetorical device. The writer states his practice andmethods to solve problems on the aspect of the translation of vocabulary includingnouns, adjectives, adverbs and action verbs and complex sentences. In addition, thewriter thinks it’s necessary to realize sufficiently their implied profound emotionbefore translating literatures. In the paper, the writer aims at exploring translationmethods of Shi Tiesheng’s prose and trying to provide reference for similar problems.
