| Attachment is a core component of personality, development of attachment thought out life. Healthy attachment relationships are greatly beneficial to emotional management, interpersonal functioning and mental health. Studies confirmed that attachment system which works as a comprehensive working model of self and others effects how individuals establish and maintain relationships, whether feel comfort of intimacy, and self-disclosure. The object of attachment in infancy is usually the mother or other major dependents. With the development of age and interpersonal relationships, attachment relationships extended to a larger range. Main attachment targets of late adolescence to adulthood include our life partner or long-term romantic partner, parents, siblings and friends. For undergraduates’students, varieties of attachment relationships coexist and play almost equal important roles in this life stage. Undergraduates with secure attachment are easier to communicate with parents and friends, to take more positive coping strategy with interpersonal problems, and processing less emotional or behavioral problems, as well as better environmental adaptability.Self-disclosures involve the act of revealing personal information about oneself to another. Such actions have been viewed as central to the development of close relationships and to the maintenance of psychological well-being. With the advent of the Internet era communication between people no longer limited to face to face conversation, more and more young people deem internet as an important social channel. Thus, online self-disclosure has become an important research topic. In the last decade, researches of online self-disclosure mostly focus on the impact of demographic variables and some scattered psychological variable; few examined the effects of core internal working model. In order to investigate how attachment impact on the undergraduates’ online self-disclosure, I did the following studies:Study1. Translated and revised a assessment instruments for adult attachment across relationship, which was revised by Fraley from the most commonly used measurement of adult attachment in romantic relationship at the first place, The experiences in close relationships—Relationship Structures Questionnaire (ECR-RS). The questionnaire used to measure the attachment relationships of aldut with their mother, father, same-sex friends, opposite sex friends the same time with a small number of subejct. The reliability and validity of the translated and revised version of the measurement are good and the model fit better between mother-child relationship and the opposite sex relationships.Study2. Studied how attachment of undergraduates’ effects their online self-disclosure with the tool from study1. The results showed that:(1) attachment avoidance negatively predicted undergraduates’ online self-disclosure;(2) attachment avoidance of peers can negatively predicted undergraduates’ online self-disclosure. |
