Sung Dynasty is the top period in Chinese history of landscape painting, in which landscapepainting make a great process of development. According to the clue of the composition oflandscape painting in Sung Dynasty, it clearly shows that the trace of the development of it.There is a huge difference of the composition which influenced by era background and thechange of itself development of constructable elements between North Sung Dynasty and SouthSung Dynasty. Taking it as a whole, the transition between the two dynasty is the continuationand development of landscape painting.As the development of landscape painting in Sung Dynasty, the way of composition stillinherits the Tang Dynasty, on which changes and develop are based. Differing from Zhan Ziqianwho dealt with the composition of the “Spring trip” by that when someone see the painting in ashort distance as if seeing from a far away and Li Sixun and Li Zhaodao who paid more attentionto the ornament, the composition strengthens the orientation of the high mountains and hugerivers, especially, Fan Kuan’s “trip between the spring and mountain”. In fact, the support can befound in the painting theory in both Tang Dynasty and Sung Dynasty. However, thedevelopment of the philosophy demanded to put the rational on the balance and observe thenature sincerely, which propel the reality of the landscape painting.But the situation changed a lot. On the one hand, losing territory bought unbalancedpsychology to the painter. The psychology and awareness of the era reflected on the painting,which strengthen the composition of the frame and powerfully writing as if the paintings burstout the sadness and anger. From the point of the composition, the landscape painting in SouthSung Dynasty changed from the panorama composition to parts of composition.
