| Body language, as a special language phenomenon, has its unique functions. As anauxiliary means of sound language, the body language is a communication instrument whichmakes the ideas expressed by humans more vividly. The aim of language teaching is tocultivate the ability to correctly use languages for students. The teaching of Chinese as aforeign language is to make the Chinese language learners master this ability andcommunicate in this language. It is sometimes quite difficult to express clearly only in orallanguage in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language (TCFL) due to the difference in theChinese language ability between teachers and students. Therefore, body language plays anauxiliary role in the teaching of TCFL. The function of body language in TCFL is as follows:simulation, explanation, practice and auxiliary. Words are the foundation of learning alanguage. Therefore, words’ teaching is one of key points in TCFL. Some words original frompostures, some words can express meanings by imitating postures, and some words canexpressed objects by the indication of posture, which of these make it possible to implementwords teaching of primary stage in body language. The words for primary stage are simplyand in common use, the students of primary stage are not good at communicating in Chinese,and most body languages can express more than sound language, and body language canmake the students more active in classroom, etc. Because of the reasons above, body languagemakes it necessary to implement words teaching of primary stage in body language. Also, theproblems of applicability and nationality should be taken into consideration when implementwords teaching of primary stage in body language. The first degree words from the Syllabusof Chinese Words and Character, which are applied to be explained in body language, areillustrated. Take the teaching plans that are applied in the TCFL by body language as example,which have enlightenment on effect on the words teaching of TCFL for the primary stage. |
