Jinghuayuan is a representative work of Li Ruzhan, a scholar in the Qing Dynasty. It takes her about twenty years to write this book which is completed in1817. It is an important corpus of the research on modern Chinese history, and plays an important role in the process of Chinese language development history. Taking the conjunctions in the book as its research objects, this paper studies these conjunctions from an overall perspective by using classified analysis, semantic analysis, measurement statistics, comparative approach, and so forth. Meanwhile, this paper can provide some reference and help to the research on the history of modern Chinese.This paper is divided into six chapters. The first Chapter is the introduction, including the research object, the research meaning, the current research situation, research methods, the quotes and illustrations, and the definition and classification of the conjunctions. The second chapter studies the coordinative conjunctions, and conducts a comprehensive research on its distribution and usage. The third Chapter studies the subordinate conjunctions, and conducts a comprehensive research on its distribution and usage. The forth chapter studies the characteristics of conjunctions in the book, and makes analysis from measurement statistics, syllable structures, the ways and forms of new conjunctions, and the application in compound sentences and sentence group. The fifth chapter, from two aspects of synchronic and diachronic aspect, conducts a comparative study of the conjunctions, chosen from Dream of the Red Chamber, Longtu Record, Ancient Chinese times, Middle Chinese times, and Modern Chinese times. The sixth chapter is a case study about the adversative conjunction "di", discussing the process of forming, developing and dying.
