EST translation has become one of the most important parts in the field of translation studies. EST is featured by accuracy, simplicity, rigor and objectivity, which has placed higher demand on translators. This thesis focuses on translation strategies of EST from the perspective of functional equivalence theory. This thesis starts with an analysis of the text type theory by Reiss. It firstly introduces the EST, including its definition and classification, language features and comparison with literary language. Considering the language features of EST, it is infeasible to translate EST guided by the traditional translation theories with the source text as the core regardless of target audiences’needs. In this thesis, Nida’s functional equivalence theory is employed as the theoretical foundation. Technical text is to transfer information correctly while the functional equivalence theory emphasizes the target readers’need during translation, so functional equivalence theory can play a positive role in improving EST translation. On the basis of above analysis about the theory concepts and the language features of EST, the thesis cites many examples from Tender Documents of MDT to propose EST translation strategies from meaning and style.
