Text material is not only the material base of the textbook, but also the carrier of teaching principle and teaching context. Its importance to teaching is beyond all doubt. To some certain extent, corpus difficulty has influence on the difficulty of textbook. At present, the research achievements of textbook corpus difficulty is very limited in the research area of teaching Chinese as a second language. In this article, we conduct a quantitative analysis of language difficulty about an upper elementary Chinese listening and speaking textbook(book one)of Road to Success based on the factor analysis proposed by former researchers in their researches of corpus difficulty. To be specific, the text material will be analyzed in four aspects, that is corpus length, vocabulary, frequency of uncommon words and speed.(all by an average per100characters) At the same time, a questionnaire survey about the difficulty and likability for each text will be conducted on the overseas students that have studied this textbook. Then, we are gonna find out the problems about corpus arrangement of the textbook via former study. Problems involve text difficulty disorder and discrepancy, etc. Whereafter, we put forward some relevant suggestions for the textbook corpus arrangement of this very textbook and of elementary listening and speaking textbooks of teaching Chinese as a second language. This article is aimed to provide certain referential suggestions for the teaching material arrangement.
