Research On Metrical Dot-matrix Pattern Composition Of Traditional Folk Brocade Cross-stitch Work

With the social development, the trend of modernization and globalization is becoming evident, the research on intangible cultural heritage protection in the minority areas is particularly important. Through the analysis of traditional crafts embroidery techniques, product features of Western Hunan Tujia brocade and Miao, Yao cross-stitch, and it is concluded that the two kinds of traditional techniques are using square lattice as basic modeling element, showing a strong sense of rule and organization through the permutation and combination of the features of different colors, points, and patterns. Thus, such patterns are generally called metrical dot-matrix patterns.This paper has analyzed and pointed out that the metrical nature of metrical dot-matrix pattern and the feature based on folding linear modeling is the physical origin of process limitations, elaborated the relationship between metrical dot matrix pattern and geometric pattern. Starting from the historical origins and composition features of Western Hunan Tujia traditional brocade art, cross-stitch art, by combining the relevant content of aesthetics, sociology and ethnology, the paper conducted the research on Western Hunan Tujia brocade and metrical dot-matrix pattern composition of cross-stitch work.Through the application analysis of metrical dot-matrix pattern in Tujia brocade and the Yao cross-stitch skirt of Huxingshan of Longhui County, it emphasized the unique value of metrical dot-matrix pattern, and the paper also analyzed its traditional handicraft heritage and its application of the new product development in the modern traditional arts and crafts.The introduction is a reflection on the application of metrical dot-matrix pattern in Western Hunan Tujia brocade and cross-stitch work, the objectives, content and methods of thesis research are proposed.Chapter2analyzed the concept, origin and composition features of metrical dot-matrix pattern.Chapter3conducted a selective analysis of the implicit cultural spirit of Western Hunan Tujia brocade and Yao cross-stitch skirt of Huxingshan of Longhui County, and the paper also conducted an in-depth discussion on the peculiarity of metrical dot-matrix pattern and its role in the contemporary traditional brocade cross-stitch work and era heritage.
