Interpreting has increasingly played a significant role in the diplomatic relationsaround China. In recent years, the requirements for interpreters merge while thequalification for interpreters rises accordingly. The beginners often face a problemthat while they interpret many sentences but the listeners could not figure out what theinterpreters mean. This essay is to start with this phenomenon and take the remarks byPresident Obama of US and President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of Chinaafter Bilateral Meeting on June7th,2013, exploring the explicitation inChinese-English interpretation. Scholars have gained some achievements on studyingexplicitation. Explicitation is common in interpretation, but relative research is mainlyon descriptive study. The author, presenting as the student interpreter, simulates realcontext to analysis the explicitation in Chinese-English consecutive interpreting.This essay embodies four parts. The first part task description and the secondpart task process possess a whole view of the task, including content, text analysis etc.The third part case analysis is the core part of this essay, contrastively analysisingexplicitation via case study. This essay concludes explicitation into four categaries,indispensable explicitation, context-supplyment explicitation, dispensableexplicitation, and redundancy in hoping of giving some advice for beginners in fieldinterpretation.
