The Survey Of Language Attitude And Language Use In Residents Of Pingyao Ancient City

In recent years, with the vigorous development of tourism, somechanges of language use have also taken place in residents ofPingyao ancient city. This thesis mainly bases on the method ofsocial linguistics and its theory: with Pingyao dialect (ancient city)as the research subjects and using the methods of questionnairesurvey, to investigate language attitude and language use of thePingyao ancient city residents. Mainly investigate dialect phoneticchanges since the1980’s of Pingyao (ancient city) and with theconsideration of age, gender, education level and occupation andother social factors to find out its influence to variation, aim topredict the development trend of Pingyao initials (ancient city)dialect and of rusheng characters.The thesis firstly analyzes the Pingyao ancient city residents’attitude to Pingyao dialect, mandarin and English; And it makes theinvestigation and analysis to the residents’ ability of Pingyaoancient city of using Pingyao dialect, mandarin and Englishrespectively, from the perspectives of different occasions(family,public,places) and different communication object investigates thelanguage usage of Pingyao ancient city residents,finally analyzesthe language attitude, language ability and age, gender, level of education, occupation and other social factors’ influence onlanguage use.Based on the investigation of language attitude and languageuse of the Pingyao ancient city residents,we investigate phoneticvariant of Pingyao dialect (ancient city). Firstly we analyse thePingyao initials (ancient city) dialect variation, based on a clearillustration of the survey glossary, confirming the Pingyao (ancient)city of dialect initials variables and variable types, and analyzingthe initials variation characteristics, evolvement patterns andinfluence of age, gender, level of education and professional onphonological variation, finally summarizing the initials’ influence ofthe variation of the initial system; and we analys the Pingyaorusheng characters (ancient city) dialect variation, From theaspects of age, gender, level of education,occupation we analyzesthe usage of55rusheng characters.We make out the conclusion: Pingyao ancient city residentsstill employ Pingyao dialect as the main language, in the other handthey accept mandarin; and English is mainly used betweenbusinessmen and tourists. Pingyao dialect (ancient city) initialsrusheng characters and mutates have been changing, and thedirection of development is to mandarin.
