| The interpretive school believes that translation can be divided into three steps:comprehension, deverbalization and reformulation. The interpretive school also believes that direct translation of language does not work, and translation should convey the message.Compared with simultaneous interpretation, interpreters have more time to understand and deverbalize the original text so as to improve interpretation quality in the practice of consecutive interpretation. Therefore,it is of practical significance to study Chinese-English consecutive interpretation from the perspective of the interpretive theory. The author transcribes student interpreters’ practice records, analyzes wrong and inappropriate interpretations caused by lack of correct comprehension or deverbalization. The author also provides corresponding tactics from the perspective of the interpretive theory to improve interpretation quality. This thesis finds that comprehension and deverbalization influences interpretation quality and suggests several tactics to improve interpretation quality from the interpretive theory perspective. In order to improve Chinese-English consecutive interpretation quality, interpreters should know the differences between Chinese and English, expand their knowledge, improve comprehension of Chinese, and improve the English expression. For teachers, teaching should focus on information communication rather than imparting knowledge, and interpretation skills training is very important. The finding may be of practical help for teachers and learners of consecutive interpretation. |
