A Report Of The Analysis On Interpreting Skills In Daily Life

With the increasingly frequent exchanges of non-governmental friendshiporganizations between China and Japan, it appears to be particularly important thatwe shall do a good interpreting job in our daily life. Although the interpreting workin our daily life is different from that on formal occasions, such as interpreting oninternational conferences, which don’t need to use very professional terms, theinterpreters are also required to have some basic qualities including fast and accurateinterpreting between Japanese and Chinese. During the study, I got the chance tomake interpreting practice in terms of daily life and cultural exchanges. That’s whythe author decided to write a thesis on the interpreting skills in the respect of dailylife and culture.In this thesis, based on the author’s practical experiences of interpreting in daily lifeand cultural exchanges, the author analyses and sorts out as well as summarizes thecommon interpreting skills of both in the form of practice report. Meanwhile, theauthor also systematically introduces all the work needed to be done from thereception to the smooth completion of an interpreting task, for example, thepreparations before on-site interpreting, the using of interpreting methods during theinterpreting and the checking and summarizing after interpreting. The thesis focuseson the analysis and summaries of skills which can be used in the practical on-siteinterpreting according to the author’s hands-on experiences. For example, when theinterpreter couldn’t immediately understand the meaning of the speaker for somereason, what methods should be used to guarantee the interpreting to be carried outsmoothly. To sum up, the thesis is aimed at exploring the effective and practicalinterpreting skills in daily communication based on personal interpreting experience.
