A Reflection Report On The E-C Simulated Simultaneous Interpreting Of "Global Village Forum:Love,Unity,Peace And Hope"

The 2020 epidemic has made online conference a ―new normal‖.With the increase of online international conferences,there has been an increasing demand for interpreter in the market.Interpreters should try to seize these opportunities.In order to provide high-quality interpreting service,interpreters must first improve themselves.In order to improve the quality of interpreting,interpreters need to learn and sharpen the fundamental interpreting skills,practice them consciously,and have reflection on their work.This reflection report is based on the simulated English-Chinese simultaneous interpreting practice which was about a speech of ―Global Village Forum – Love,Unity,Peace and Hope‖.It includes the description of the whole process of the simulated practice,including the introduction of the conference background and speakers,the collection and collation of pre-task information,things to be noticed while interpreting,and post-interpreting analysis.By analyzing the source and target texts,the author found that there were many emphatic patterns that were not interpreted well enough,and many difficulties like long sentences,information missing and accent during the task.Under the principle of syntactic linearity,this report analyzed many examples and optimized them with interpreting skills and strategies.Finally,this paper summarized the shortcomings of this practice and gave possible solutions.
