Therefore, it is urgent to conduct an in-depth study on the C-E translation of public signs in Changsha scenic spots. As public signs are characterized as pragmatic texts with explicit purposes and special functions, functionalist translation theory is suitable to be adopted as the theoretical guidance for C-E translation of public signs. Under the guidance of Reiss’ text typology of functionalism, public signs of scenic spots in Changsha city can be classified into informative texts and operative texts, which respectively perform informative and appellative function. Whether the functions can be realized in target language or not is an essential criterion for translation quality of public signs. This thesis focuses on the error analysis of C-E public signs translation under the guidance of Reiss’ text typology. To ensure the authenticity and the persuasiveness, all data used in this thesis are collected from seven four-A and one five-A scenic spots in Changsha city. The author holds that establishing systematic reference system of public signs translation will contribute a lot to improving the translation quality of public signs in Changsha scenic spots. |
