As a report on Chinese to English travel escort interpreting (C-E ES), this report describes one ES task conducted by the author for the foreign friends travelling in Chengdu City and gives the interpretation of the cultural relics in exhibition hall of Jinsha Site Museum. Translation theories are framework of this report and cultural relics’interpretation is content of this report.The interpretation report is divided into two phases:pre-interpreting phase and escort interpreting phase. Pre-interpreting phase is divided into five parts: preparation of archaeological knowledge, preparation of Chinese history and cultural knowledge, preparation of professional terms, preparation of structure of scenic spot, preparation of psychology and confidence. Escort interpreting phase introduces five kinds of articles according to their materials:gold articles, bronze articles, jade articles, stone carvings and colorful painted wood articles. Chapter Three gives eight skills of interpreting and each gives the cultural relics’ interpretation examples. At last, author gives the whole report summaries.The eight interpreting skills are:Accumulate more professional terms, reorganize structures of Chinese sentences, omit complicated and useless Chinese sentences, use cultural equivalents to get better understanding, merge several Chinese sentences to form a new English sentence,’use transliteration and annotation to get better understanding, add more details according to your own understanding, omit Chinese description sentences and other articles interpreting summaries.The interpreting skills talked above are summarized by author in the mission, which hopes to help other escort interpreter and to make contribution to China inbound tourism.
