The Application Of "Modular Grid" Style System In Graphic Design

With the development of modern technology and computer technology, design tools have beenrevolutionary upgraded, some new methods, new technologies can be applied in the field ofgraphic design. Great changes have taken place in the modern plane design, graphic designersalso started to pay attention to how to break through the traditional design style, theidentification of important problems and the use of rational design methods to solve them.In recent years, the use of simple shapes such as, squares, circles, triangles and othersimple geometric shapes have become the basic elements of design. Used according to somepermutation and combination rules, they form a unique visual style. Since it relies on a gridsystem, this style is commonly known as the "modular grid" style. The proposed "modular grid"style has two implications: First,"modular", the basic design elements, simple geometry asthe basic elements of graphic design style. Second,"grid", or namely the grid system. Thebasic elements are displayed on the basis of permutation and combination rules, according tonumerous methods.To provide a concise summary of theoretical research and application of the “modulargrid”s style, this research analyzes a large number of fragmented "modular grid" styles andsummarizes both the "modern background and historical prototype modular grid styles. It isfrom the produce, development to mature roots, the exploration of elements from traditionalculture and modern "modular grid"’s style combined with the form, design methods, and thestyle in the design of practical application and use expansion. We directed our research towardsthe study of both the background and modern style situation, the form of expression, theregulation system, expanding the design application use.We have focused our research on the"modular grid" style, summed up a set of aspects related to the design style and the performanceof this method, as well as generalized the system of this kind of style. We aim through thistheoretical study, to provide modern graphic designers some practical and valuable referencesin order to master modern design methods and, therefore grasp better the trend of design.
