In medieval period, the West was under the rule of Christianity and to a large extent lost the classical tradition of ancient Greek. Meanwhile, the rising Arabia empire preserved and passed on this heritage, facing the collision between religion and philosophy. As the Commentator of Aristotle, Averroes had great interest in philosophy; but as a senior religious people, he had a profound sense of responsibility in maitaining the order based on the Law. He managed to protect both philosophy and religion, reason and faith by elitist isolation and delineation of their respective scopes. But this attempt failed to be acquired completely by his posterity and resist new changes later in the transmission of knowledge and the extensive utilization of reason which won the independent right to determine and an independent target area, and finally counterattacked, even squeezed the space of faith.
