This thesis is a translation report on Project Health and Safety Plan. It belongs to non-literary translation. Project plan is a common text type in our daily life. It is used for enterprises’ project financing, strategic cooperation, project coordination and so on. It has a relatively fixed format. As an applied text, it is formal in language. As its guidance and reference function in observing laws and regulations as well as guaranteeing workplace safety operation played in practice, careful selection of words, accurate expressions and concise sentence structures are frequently seen in the translation version. According to the requirements of non-literary translation, the author mainly adopted the theorist Eugene Nida’s Functional Equivalence theory. Chapter1gives a basic description of translation task, reflected in its source of information and text features and so on. The language the text takes mainly focuses on the scientific truth and practical function. The specific features become obvious for its important role in the development of our society. Chapter2elaborates on preparations during translation. It mainly includes the preparations before translating through understanding the text type of the Project Health and Safety Plan, and the process of actual preparatory work. At the same time, it also includes the proofreading work during the completion of the translation task. Chapter3makes a rough analysis on the translation difficulties and presenting specific strategies under the guidance of translation theory. First, it refers to the problems of understanding original words, and then, it covers the professional term translation problems, finally, the author have a detailed discussion on the application of the functional equivalence during the translation process. Functional equivalence theory is also called dynamic equivalence, which based on the readers. The focus of translation lies in the reader’s response to the translation version but not the correspondence of the form. Translation skills application is also particularly important in the translation process. Just according to the functional equivalence as the basic translation theory, accompanied by various translation strategies, the author can complete the whole text translation, referring to the words and sentences translation strategies. Chapter4mainly talks about the author’s feelings and experiences during translating and problems need to be solved. The translation road is hard while attitude is very important during the process. Translation tools are also used in the paper. The author also points out the importance of translation work in each part and makes an expectation for the future translation practice. At the same time, the author benefited a lot from this translation, learned both the translation skills of such kind of style and the importance of the shouldering the responsibility as a translator, which provides precious experience for future translation practice.
