| Media is the extension of human being. The way in which mankind perceive the world hasbeen changed by different media. After Old Alchemy Age of Bronze Age, Porcelain Age, andIron Age which is characterized by found and sculpture techniques, Post Alchemy Ageconsists of inductive media and penetrative media of sound, light and electricity has arrived.Human being is adapting to the new world created by this multimedia that is absolutelydifferent from the previous ages. This paper intends to explore and discuss the relationship between reality and new media.Comparison is employed in this paper to analyze all epoch-making media. As a result, aconclusion is drawn that new media can simulate the reality.First, new media is a non-material media. Light and electricity can be the carriers ofinformation that can transform material into non-material information and codes.Second, new media is a cold media. It can provide an open space where people can comeinto a cyberspace created by light and electricity, therefore being off the real world.Third, new media causes the implosion. Outward extension is accompanied by inwardextension which results in faint boundaries of things, such as time and space implosion, centerand boundary implosion. The way in which new media is applied to generating illusions is explored deeply, such ashow to create time, space and apperceive concepts in cyberspace.Through a careful argument and reasoning, the relationship between new media and realitycan be defined as new media can generate illusions which can be adopted to improve therelationship between human and environment. This research enjoys high practical value.Living environment is surrounded by more and more illusions, so it is worthy to be thoughtthat how to generate appropriate illusions, how to organize people to people talks as well aspeople to material world talks, how to personify them. Attention should be paid on how to usephotoelectric media to create illusions, to improve relationship between human being and living environment, to make environment soft and emotional. |
