The phenomenon that readers don’t remember what they have read after readinga passage occure in all ages. It is due to the lack of effective metacomprehensionmonitoring. Individuals can adjust the reading speed, adopting reading strategies, making up for mis-understanding by using accurate metacomprehension monitoring toachieve the goal of effective reading and improve learning efficiency. Therefore, accurate metacomprehension monitoring is playing an important role in readingprocess, directly influence the effectiveness of metacomprehension regulation, influence the reading effect ultimately.Researchers find out the delay effect in the study of metacomprehensionaccuracy. The delay effect, refers to the readers’s understanding assessment orperformance prediction accuracy after a period of time is higher than that ofimmediate accuracy. However, it is found in previous study that delay effectdisaccords in metacomprehension monitoring assessment and performance prediction.Meantime, there are disagreements whether it is one-dimensional view ortwo-dimensional views in dividing forms of metacomprehension monitoring. This study based on experiment1and experiment2, observe and study the twoforms of metacomprehension monitoring (metacomprehension monitoringassessment and performance prediction) and the delay effect. The followingconclusions are drawn:Metacomprehension assessment and performance prediction, as operationalindicators, under the condition of the keyword in cognitive processing tasks bothexists delay the key effect. The differences of accuracy are not remarkable.Metacomprehension assessment and performance prediction both exists delayabstract effect, under the condition of abstract as cognitive processing method.Thedifferences of accuracy are not remarkable.Actively strengthening monitoring more than passive strengthening monitoringcan improve the accuracy of assessment and performance prediction. There isgeneration effect existing in metacomprehension monitoring. Metacomprehension assessment and performance prediction conform to theone-dimensional view of metacomprehension monitoring, under the condition ofkeyword and abstract as metacomprehension monitoring cognitive processing tasks. The differences of accuracy are not remarkable; meanwhile, the delay effect exists.
