This article is entitled “Studies on Qing Loanwords”. By only focusing on Qingperiod, this article presents not only the basic outlook and features of Qing loanwordsbut also the way Qing loanwords influence modern Chinese. The whole thesiscomprises seven parts:The first part is an introduction which intruduces the research background,thesignificance, theoretical basis and language materials sources.The second part discusses the scope and definition of the research. It outlines apertinent extent for this study concerning the results of previous studies.The third part describes the social circumstance of Qing Dynasty in severalaspects, such as politics, economy and culture. It reviews the historical background andspecific environment caused Qing loanwords.The fourth part presents the basic outlook of Qing loanwords by using abundantlanguage materials and real data. In this part, the methods of classification andquantitative comparison are applied.The fifth part shows the features of Qing loanwords by analyzing the souces,meanings, the way of absorbing and the inner structure.The sixth part indicates how Qing loanwords have effect on modern Chinese.Thepaper studies the impact on modern Chinese’s pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar andmeaning of the absorption of Qing loanwords on the basis of preceding paragraphs.The last part makes a conclusion and lists limitations.The innovative points of this article: First, the article concentrates on Qing period.The article clearly classifies the loanwords from the macroscopic view and counts onmicroscopic level. Second, the article applies abundant loanword materials. Qingloanwords Database is initially established in the appendix section, which is summedup in order of strokes.
