Study On The Construction Of The Realization Mechanism Of Moral Repayment Under The Social Transformation Of China

Moral repayment is meant to have the virtue rewarded and the vicepunished. It’s an important control means of social morality and of greatimportance and value for maintaining social moral order, defending moralauthorities and building strong moral belief. The absence of moralrepayment has raised a lot of concern from all walks of life under thesocial transformation of China.This paper first discusses the connotation of moral repayment. Thethought of moral repayment has its distant origin and long development.It’s well established in the tortuous historical process of the humansociety. The thoughts and practices of moral repayment in the ethicalculture and moral life both at home and abroad are explored, so that theconnotation of moral repayment could be defined. Secondly, thetheoretical basis of moral repayment is given in this paper. Theemergence of morality meets the demand for the regulation of socialinterests. The idea that morality is interlinked to social gains provides theground for the existence and development of morality. Moral repaymentachieves not only the harmony between self-interest and altruism, butalso the dialectical unity of moral rights and moral obligations. It sets upthe theoretical framework for the realization mechanism of moralrepayment. Moreover, the successful experience of the realization mechanism of moral repayment built up by such countries as USA, UK,Japan and Singapore where market economy is well-developed isanalyzed as a reference for establishing our own realization mechanism ofmoral repayment. In addition, after analyzing the current situation and thereasons of the lack of moral repayment under the social transformation ofChina, taking into account China’s national condition of “ruling thecountry by morality” and “running the country by law”, learning fromsome developed countries on successfully establishing the realizationmechanism of moral repayment, the conclusion is drawn that moralrepayment should be combined with moral education, legislation formorals, social systems, and the mechanism of supervision by publicopinions, the realization mechanism of social repayment thus constructed,under which the priority is given to safeguard the fundamental rights ofmoral subjects and rewarding measures stand a secondary position. All inall, moral repayment is intended to hold fast to the moral bottom line,advocate gradual improvement of moral character, and make socialjustice that “good is rewarded with good, and evil with evil” a reality.
