Simone Weil (Simone Weil,1909-1943) was a famous French writer and thinker, praised bymany intellectuals in the world today. She had a broad and wide creation, covering manysubjects, such as religion, philosophy, science, literature, politics, history and so on. BecauseWeil died prematurely, or perhaps because she didn’t attempt to build a complete system ofthought, so give her readers some difficulties to understand her comprehensively and correctly.This paper attempts to conclude the characteristics of Weil’s thoughts and creation from hernumerous and fragmentary notes to enrich the study on Weil.The paper is divided into five sections: The he first section is a brief introduction of Weil’s life,personality traits and beliefs, helping to understand the background of her creation and theformation of her style; The second section analyze the aesthetic thoughts in Weil’s essays, andthe interaction with other literary concepts, especially her labor thoughts; The third sectionanalyze the Literary and Artistic Thoughts of Weil, including her views on writers’responsibilities and ethics, the freedom of creative thinking and expression; The forth sectionfocus on several important concepts in Weil’s creation, such as strength, meditation, idol worshipand obligation; The fifth section summarize the main features of Weil’s creation and evaluate theacademic value and practical significance of her Literary and Artistic Thoughts.
