A Study On Wei Mo Jie Jing(《维摩诂经》)’s Variants Of Dunhuang Manuscripts

Wei Mo Jie Jing as an important classic of buddhism, its Dunhuang manucripts have very high research value on both Chinese characters history and Chinese language history.This paper has researched comprehensively on Dunhuang Wei Mo Jie Jing, studied on its variant readings and knotty characters.It consists of five chapters.The chapter I is the introduction. The paper gives a list of Wei Mo Jie Jing’s content and its translator firstly,then latest progress and research status of Wei Mo Jie Jing, as well as the value is presented;it also introduces the objectives and methods of study.The chapter II is the catalogue.It includes labeling,number and notes,as well as the starting and closing characters,and so on,it will be put in the appendix I.The chapter III is the study of variants on Dunhuang Wei Mo Jie Jing, which is the most important part of the paper.This chapter classifies the deravatives in Dunhuang Wei Mo Jie Jing,includes variant characters,interchangeable words, ancient and modern words, and wrongly written characters.The chapter IV is the explanation of knotty characters in Dunhuang Wei Mo Jie Jing.This paper attempts to interpret some knotty characters and ten groups of variants, such as’‘棘,(?),(?),(?)”,“怖,希”.The chapter V is the conclusion.In appendix, there is a catalogue of Dunhuang Wei Mo Jie Jing and a form of variant characters.
