The face is a sort of non-verbal stimulation with rich details, it provides abundant socialinformation which can facilitate better communication, and better adaptation to our social life.Other-race effect is a relatively special social cognitive phenomena in face recognition domains,it expressed as a results which people within a race performs Better in terms of memorizing itsown race face than the other-race. The contact experience of individuals with different ethnicgroups will have impact on other-race effect. This study reveal the causes of the other-race effect, through the manipulation of the contact experience by the whole/part hypothesis and multidim--ensional space hypothesis as the basis to discuss the contact experience cognitive processingmechanism to identify the other-race faces. This study consists of three experiments, experiment I: the classic "learning–recognition”paradigm, which is to study subjects with different ethnic groups (Uygur and Han), and withdifferent levels of contact experience (long-time touch experience and short-time touchexperience), whose ability to recognize pictures of Uighur-face and Han ethnic face. experimentII used “blurred/scrambled distinguish memory task “, Examine whether the contact experienceaffect the recognition other-faces processing methods. experiment III used “sequential faceidentification task”, Examine whether the contact experience affect the multi-dimensional facespace in concentration. Based experiment I,through experiment II and III to explore the contactexperience how it affects the cognitive mechanisms of the other-faces.The conclusions are as followes:(1) Contact experience has influence identification other-faces, the Uygur and Han subjectswith high contact were tested for the ability to identify the other-faces better than the Uygur andHan subjects with low contact.(2) Contact experience affect the processing of other-faces, the Uygur and Han subjects withhigh contact were used for other-faces and the own-faces of the same configuration processing.the Uygur and Han subjects with low contact on the own-faces was used component processing;(3)Contact experiences affect the concentration of the other-faces in multi-dimensional facespace, multi-dimensional face space was in Uygur and Han subjects with high contact with strongconcentration of the other-races; multi-dimensional face space was in Uygur and Han subjectswith low contact with small concentration of the other-faces.
