This thesis takes “The Remarks of Poetry Mirror” written by Lu Shiyong inMing dynasty as research object and mainly consists of two parts: the first partfocuses on discussion and evaluation, aiming at exploring and concluding theprincipal poetic idea of Lu shiyong and trying to find how his poetic ideas guide andrestrict his poetry criticism practice. Detailed information is unfolded into threeaspects:Firstly Lu’s life and friends are discussed from the perspective of the relatedliterature and historical context. Furthermore, the poetic background of “The Remarksof Poetry Mirror” is deeply analyzed from the poetics environment of Ming dynasty, and the version and codification for “Poetry mirror” and “The Remarks of PoetryMirror” are summarized from the angle of philology.Secondly, the poetic ideas implied in “The Remarks of Poetry Mirror” are probed.Factors such as “feeling”,“sensing”,“color”,“image” and “romantic charm” thatembody poetic ideas are comprehensively analyzed.Thirdly, the author puts emphases on how Lu’s poetic views run though hiscritical ideology and guide his critical practice by referring to the critical practice of“Ancient poetry mirror” and “Tang poetry mirror”. Lu reveals his extreme preferenceto “rhyme” in “The Remarks of Poetry Mirror”, which can be extrapolated to hiscritical practice in especially emphasizing the importance of rhyme when evaluatingpoem. Besides rhyme, terminologies used to comment poems such as “truly natural”“graceful” are commonly adopted. Hereafter this paper will specifically analyze Lu’spoetic practice by combining with these two terms. In the second part of this thesis, the author systemizes headings of “The Remarksof Poetry Mirror” and gives notes, which are not only for the readers’ convenience butalso supplies a relative accurate reference for understanding the poetic idea of Lushiyong.
