The Development Course And Present Situation Of Japanese Shape-borrowed Words

China and Japan are close neighbors facing each other only by a narrow strip of water.With language and culture contact, and the absorption of Chinese characters and culture, itcreated an own specific “shape-borrowed” phenomenon and quantities of the shape-borrowedwords in Japanese.This paper focuses on the shape-borrowed words in the word list of Standard Japanese.By comprehensive and detailed analysis and comparative study of the Japaneseshape-borrowed words in Standard Japanese individually, the article lays special stress onanalyzing the connections and differences meanly in meanings between the Japaneseshape-borrowed words and Chinese words in different periods, and presenting thedistributions, usages and characteristics of the shape-borrowed words in aspect of origins.The paper has the following parts: the first part is the introduction, to briefly report theresearch purpose and significances of the shape-borrowed words and the correlative studyboth in Chinese and Japanese; the second part is to introduce the history background of theshape-borrowed words，and point out the importance of characters and words from ancientChina to the Japanese shape-borrowed words and the whole system of written Japanese; thethird part is a thorough statistics, classification and analysis of the shape-borrowed words inStandard Japanese, to search for the inheritance and development between Chinese words andthe shape-borrowed words in Japanese; the last part is used for summarizing the value ofChinese characters and words for Japanese shape-borrowed words and the results of the datastatistics in Standard Japanese.
