Xing Shi Yan (Stories that Regulates the World) is isa Script-like novels whichprinted and published in Chongzhen eras,Ming Dynasty.It has10volumns,40chapters,and writed by Lu Yunlong.Xing Shi Yan is one of the masterpieces ofScript-like novels created during the Ming and Qing dynasty. In Xing Shi Yan, thereare a lot of difficult/questionable texts and colloquialisms. Criticizing and explainingthese texts can help better understanding some linguistic phenomena in Ming andQing.This article means to criticize and explain the meanings of selected words,present a linguistic image of the Ming and Qing dynasty, and discover the value ofXing Shi Yan in lexicology during Ming and Qing from the perspective of words.Itwill use techniques of Critical Interpretation of Ancient Chinese Texts such asCharacter Structural Analysis, Comparison and Integration with Text in Question andOther Texts, Comparison between Symmetric Texts, Comparison with Other Versionof the Text, and Identifying by Pronunciation to identify and explain these texts, andaccording to the classifications in authentic dictionaries such as the ComprehensiveChinese Word Dictionary, divide the texts into nouns, verbs, adjectives, other classesof words, colloquialisms and words with missing word senses in the ComprehensiveChinese Word Dictionary.In them,nouns are classified of character class, title class,office-name class, place-name class, abstract-noun class, material-name class, andthings-name class. Verbs are classified of ordinary verbs, proprietary verbs, and verbphrases. Adjectives are classified of adjectives describing people and adjectivesdescribing things.
