At present, the info globalization leads to the development of the economic globalization, the acceleration of cultural diversity, which has given rise to the normalization and the wild-spread of the cross-cultural communication. The development and expansion of the Confucius institute is arising at the historic moment in which the cross-cultural communication is becoming or has become the theme in the context of our times.Taking the Google, Springer, and EBSCO relevant researchers as the investigating object, we found that there was quite obvious tendentiousness toward the researched content about the Confucius institute. Therefore, in the era of globalization and new media of which moment that the cross-cultural communication among various countries is facing with neo-orientation and transition, re-examining the China’s image of Confucius institute, it’s not only beneficial for providing some meaningful inspirations for the Confucius institute to respond to new challenges, but also offering the meaning with comparable background for the future and the development of intercultural communication of the Confucius institute for which now is entrapping into the current context of uncertainty that along with the "golden development" and "issue of obvious contradiction".Chapter one,"the role of the Confucius institute in the context of the cross-cultural communication ". In this paragraph, we take the Cross-cultural communication theory content as the starting point to clear about the connotation, the characteristic and system pattern of the cross-cultural communication for guiding the in-depth analysis and research of the global expansion phenomenon toward the Confucius institute:taking the Confucius institute as the product of cross-cultural communication in neo-times in the field at home and abroad; making specific analysis the main factors of the cross-cultural communication which is able to practice.Chapter two,"the China’s image analysis of the Confucius institute in the context of intercultural communication". At first, clarifying the concept theoretically of the contemporary image which is generated now, and then points out mainly from the political, economic, education, and communication aspects to illustrate it’s various and multi-disciplinary research perspectives along with the increasing tendency of the frequent cross-cultural communication activities between Chinese and western countries: the political "vague","rough" on the economy,"not free" academic, and as one of the major variables that influences the cultural fusion in of Chinese and western countries among the process of the practicing cross-cultural communications, and so on. Such as orientation of public opinions export its challenges in the real cross-cultural communication activities of the Confucius institute:"high speed" and "low quality" during the developing process of the Confucius institute; being "aggressively" of the subject cultural verses with "low involvement" of the object involving into the cross-cultural communication.Chapter three,"the origins of the Confucius institute in the context of intercultural communication". Contrastive analysis between Chinese and western different historical and cultural backgrounds and their different experienced identities in the context of contemporary culture to generalize the reasons for China’s image towards the Confucius institute:first, the cross-cultural communicators of Confucius institute has transformed from being affected "forced culture input" of being input, being processed and being spread attitude into the modern tendency of "active absorption of culture "and "high-profile output of culture" in cross-cultural communications; Second, the cross-cultural recipients of Confucius institute are still in the traditionally dominant concept of "cultural hegemony","cultural imperialism" and keep bias in a reading of contemporary China’s cultural identity. Third, analyze the formation of the cognitive differences among cross-cultural communication activities of the Confucius institute between the subject and object among cross-cultural communications via the concepts of "direction","crossover" and "misreading" which are proposed by Habermas’s.Chapter four "improves the ability of optimization tactics of the Confucius institute during cross-cultural communications ". On the one hand, actively promoting cultural adaptability among cross-cultural communications between the subject and the object; On the other hand, strengthening the conversation and listening of the both sides during their cross-cultural communications of the Confucius institute in order to achieve effect maximization during intercultural communications of the Confucius institute. And then discuss the development of recent cases of the western cultural diplomacy organizations, such as Goethe institute, French league etc to draw lessons from western successful cross-cultural communication forms for further promoting and realizing the sustainable development of China’s Confucius institutes overseas and providing creative Suggestions.
