The Role Of Confucius Institute On Constructing National Image

The spreading of language and culture have an big effect on building one country’s image,and as a carrier of Chinese culture,Confucius Institute developed rapidly in recent years,it was considered the brightest brands of China’s cultural soft power.According to some relevant literature, the Confucius Institute was proved that has an important influence in building national image.But what specific impact it has,and which ways it was used,these questions have a few scholars to pay attention. So I hope to use some related investigations to analyze the specific role of Confucius Institute has played and how it build China’s image.First of all,I will use the literature summarizing to discuss the importance of studying the national image and the transmission of culture,proved that language and culture play an important role on building the state image. Then I will use questionnaires、interviews and observation to analyze the impact of Suphanburi Confucius Institute in building the country’s image.Through investigating 8 schools which have cooperated with the Confucius Institute of Suphan Buri,the result showed that:the Confucius Institute of Suphan Buri plays a important role in building China’s image among the co-school students and teachers,most of the students think that the Chinese teacher increased their realization of China,and the Chinese class is the best way they know China.However,there are some students also think that the information they have got from Chinese class is limited,in many aspects,they know very little about China.It proved that,the Confucius Institute have played a extensive role in constructing China’s image,but still has much room for improvement.In this regard, we must continue to strengthen self-construction of the Confucius Institute, and deepen to tap the potentialities of the Confucius Institute to build China’s image.
