Vermeer was a painter of Holland in17th century, the similar qualities of verisimilitude as the pictures from its works of art always made the viewer impressive. The pursuit of the establishment of reality in the painting in the17th century Dutch society made artists devoted to research how to reproduce a very lifelike effect in the painting, and painting was undoubtedly close to photography in expressing the reality by the exploration and application of perspective. Vermeer was the very typical painter to research and employ the techniques of perspective. He studied single point perspective and two-point perspective, and he painted by the unique method of pulling wires. He also applied the instrument named camera obscure to get help in the perspective of the painting, and create the effects belonging to photograph. But in the landscape Vermeer cancelled the fixed point and brought the significant meaning of monument to his painting. This paper reveals how Vermeer use the method of the perspective and practice the artistic taste for verisimilitude based mostly on his several works of art.
