J · Vermeer is the typical genre painter in the 17'th century. His oil painting like to express the scene of the daily life. In his earlier period, He pay attention to the construction of the object and the quality of vision. Moreover, The ray is the foundation in his image.He cretes a ture and authentic space ,express life as quite, harmonious and grace. In his later years, he creats a kind of abstract image in the realistic world. Although Vermeer use all kinds of method to search after the nature and make the painting's texture and light efforts near the nature as far as possible. Still he is very different from the popular genre painters in Dutch.His painting always contain independent reality.His painting technic provided example to posterity. Skillful composition,soft diffusion,harmonious pure color,soft but solid outline brought inspiration to posterity. This thesis tries to make a deep study and summary about Vermeer through the analysis of light,color,composition and tachnique. Meanwhile,I combine Vermeer's painting with others in his time to probe his painting's features.
