The Study Of Mo Yan’ Novel Thematology

Mo Yan boarded the literary world since the1980s, his novel, whether in style or incontent both generated impact and influence to Chinese Contemporary Literature. Hiscreation changed the trajectory of the traditional Chinese novel; he is always in a strangeand fresh artistic feeling to rediscover our national life and cultural psychology. In thispaper, we will analysis Mo Yan novel’ theme, character, image and its intentions in theview of thematology.This paper focuses on the theme type, characters, text image and the intentions ofMo Yan’ eleven novels, and strive to do a comprehensive analysis and research of MoYan’novel. This paper consists of four parts, the first part mainly explained by MoYan’novel type of theme, the life theme, the death theme, and the enlightenment theme,though Mo Yan related to many themes in his works. In the theme of life, mainly todiscuss the “Dionysian Spirit” and the strong reproductive capacity of the Earth Mother,which is most admired by Mo Yan, in order to convey the recognition and pursuit to theoriginal, wild, free vitality by Mo Yan himself; In the theme of death, the death sceneswill be classified, through which to analysis the reasons why Mo Yan so like to write“death”; The enlightenment theme, mainly explain how Mo Yan conveys the distinctivespirit of the enlightenment in an “anti-enlightenment” attitude. The first part mainlynotifies Mo Yan’s creative features and the differences with other writers, especially thewriting on the same theme. The second part analysis the characters involved in Mo Yan’text, heroes,“mentally retarded” people, women are the main object of study. Theirdifferences with other similar characters, even the “alternative” will be analyzed. In MoYan’ novel, the hero is already out of the “gao da quan” mode;“Mentally retarded”character has injected new factor to the contemporary literary characters promenade; thefemale characters in Mo Yan’s novel are also different. The third part researches the textimagery; Mo Yan’s allegorical critique of society will be expressed by the “diet” imagery;Combing and summary of the color imagery, especially the “red” imagery, explain thespecial significance of the “red” and its variants.“Red sorghum”,“red locust”,“mangroves” as the main representative of the “red” imagery. The fourth part from thelever of intention to analyze Mo Yan’s writing. Mo Yan is reverting the truth of history in the “return to civil” vision with the attitude of “as the common people”, and its Mo Yan’swriting intention. The deconstruction of historical figures, the reduction of the historicalsubject, and the written on violence restore the truth of history to some extent, and it’salso reveals the underlying causes how his characters features formed and why Mo Yanlove to descript the scene of violence.
