Abstract/Summary:
From Plato, Kant to Hume, they made the respective research on the belief. Theirstudies provided us the important ideological resources for our investigation. Theyalways connected the belief to the knowledge. The belief is someone’s convinced psychicstate concerning on a proposition or some propositions. There is complexity relationshipbetween the belief and the knowledge. The belief is not equate to the knowledge, thebelief received the authorization of the public may become the explicit knowledge, in thissense, the knowledge is all-pervading belief; the belief is the corroborant elements of theknowledge, the corroboration of the knowledge needs the support of attic faith; indialectically, the knowledge can be inaccurate, the information can be updated and thefaith can be fixed, the cognition is the basis of the belief, the essence of the cognition isforming and constructing the belief about thing’s phenomenon and orderliness.We can find the belief’s different kinds of influences on human cognitive activities.On one hand, the belief plays positive roles such as selecting, directing, connecting,motivating, and so on. The belief help us select the object, the purpose and the tools ofthe cognition, direct our cognition to the correct direction, it connects the variouscognition phases and it is the one of the important factors for realizing the two leap ofcognition, in addition to the practice, the belief is the another power factor for thecognition. On the other hand, there are negative influences, such as restraining,conservative. The improper and negative belief may inhibit our positivity to search thetruth, rigidify our thinking, and make us become stuffy, lacking of innovation. We shouldmake best use of the positive influence of the belief to direct our cognitive activities.Between the belief and the practice, there is the dialectic relationship. The form,establishment, accumulation, change of the belief, and the influence of the belief all bearon the practice, similarly there is intricate connection between the belief and the practicepurpose and process; the belief’s influences on human practice are positive as well asnegative. The practice is the test standard for proving the belief is true or false.There are direct and indirect dependence connections among the cognition, thebelief, and the practice. The cognition forms the belief, the belief translates into the belief,the new cognition create from the practice. We should test the belief in practice. This is acomprehensive process.
