| Future time perspective is individual personality, including cognition, emotion,and behavioral tendency on future social development, especially on future selfpossibility. It helps individuals to better adapt to social mission and development tasks,to help them evaluate the future based on individual’s expectation of future, thenconfirm goals, make a plan, and put it into practice. The formation of future timeperspective afford indispensable power for achieving personal dream and thewholeness of life. Being a individual cognitive variables, attributional style is aattribution tendency, in which one determines the cause or nature of the performenceof daily life by perceiving, thinking, and reasoning. The result of an attributing wouldaffect the expectation of future, some special emotion, and afterward activity of theattributor. Regarding the future as a dynamic link with the past on the basis of pasttime integration, and forming internal and controllable attribution for future, whichwill determine the behavior of students, and affect student’s opinion and attitude offuture life. General self-efficacy refers to overall self confidence facing the needs ofdifferent situations or facing a new environment. Self-efficacy affect individual oncurrent evaluation and introspection of the future choice, also affect the realization ofthe activities in the imagination, meaning that the process of occasion and action thatwill being executed form the process of the vivid and bright mental representation inthe mind, which it be as a important concept of self system that has a profound effecton future. So, study on the relationship between attribution style, general self-efficacyand future time perspective will enrich the theory and empirical research of futuretime perspective, and then provide the foundation to form well future time perspectiveand to improve the level of students’s mental health. The study was done in several colleges in Jiang Xi. Four classes were chosenrandom cluster sampling from first to four grade, and a total of450college studentswere selected to be measured with future time perspective(FTP)multidimensional-multidirectional causality scale(MMCS), and general self-efficacyscale(GESE). Using SPSS17.0, LISREL8.7statistical software to analysis the date,such as descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, regression analysis and pathanalysis.The conclusions of the study are as following:1、The future time perspective of college students have high levels. The scores of maleare significantly higher than those of female in future time perspective, and futuretime perspective are significant differences in the professional family address andfamily disposable income per-month.2、Success effort attribution, ability attribution and failure effort attribution issignificantly positively correlated with future time perspective, which hassignificant negative correlation with failure task difficulty attribution; betweensuccess luck attribution, failure ability attribution, failure luck attribution and futuretime perspective have no significant correlation. Significantly correlation were foundbetween general self-efficacy and future time perspective. Significantly positivecorrelation were found among general self-efficacy success ability, success effort,failure effort and failure luck attribution.3、Attributional style can directly well effect on future perspective, also influencefuture time perspective and the subscales of it through general self-efficacy. But thereare differents ways between future time perspective and attributional style: forbehavior commitment, general self-efficacy play a fully mediated impact in successtask difficulty attribution, and play a part of the intermediary role in success abilityattribution; for future efficacy, general self-efficacy play a part of the intermediaryrole in success ability and task difficulty attribution. But it does not exist intermediaryrole between attributional style and future time perspective. |
