Since the1980s and1990s, with the prevalence of the culture of consumerism,visual culture is showing a booming trend. In the consumerism trend impetus, visualculture becomes the focus of the market and the public’s new entertainment consumerobjects. The visual culture has a profound influence on the traditional literature, so themarginalized literary attempt to seek hope of survival in the new culture, whichappeared in a wide range of literary writing, and the marriage of literature and film isan attempt to find a way out literature. There is a adaptation of literary works traditionsince the birth of Film and Television Art, but in the new century,literature and filmhas become an interdependent relationship,so literature adapted for film andtelevision works to become a trend and trends. Mai Jia is a typical writer in theadapted boom, and his success is also thanks to the success of reform screenwriter.After Mai Jia’s novels since the "plot" adapted for the television and various televisionstations obtained aggressively, Mai Jia becomes a well-known writer, so a few of hisnovels were adapted into television and film. Thus for theculture phenomenon of literary works adapted, Mai Jia can be a typical case toanalysis. In this paper, using the combined method of text analysis and culturalindustries to comprehensive analysis Mai Jia. Mai Jia’s several novels and film andtelevision drama adaptation is the object of this paper and reference text, through acase study approach, trying to comprehensive study on the literary adaptation heat phenomenon. Firstly, from both internal and external to analyze the reasons for itsnovel heat, the unique style of his novel and cultural context of the times that makehis success. From novel to film and television is the conversion between the two artforms, which is bound by the mechanism of commercial, mainstream consciousness,art principles. Mai Jia’s novel under the interaction of a variety of generationmechanism become film and television arts, either in story or narrative style willchange accordingly. Therefore this paper use the method of close reading andcomparative studies, his novel and the film and television drama as research subjects,so specific analysis his novel how to convert into video works that is the samebetween the two art forms and transformation as well as a shift in the reasons. Mai Jianovel’s visualization will inevitably has some impact on his creation, he alwaysstressed that arrived at the public’s heart pure literature, but if his novels still adhere tothe principle of pure literary creation in the film and television process? So its futuredirection of development of the novel should be worried and be forward to. Hisnovels in the image of the tide the two most obvious trends are that gradually showinga trend of typed and video creation.
