There are two ways of interpretation on the authenticity of paradigm ofhistoriography. On the one hand, the paradigm theory applies to historiography fromthe perspective of Professor Kuhn’s emphasis on the role of research communities. And on the other hand, the theory excludes historical research from the angle of theauthor’s definition of paradigm and his research original intention. In theconsideration that the concept of paradigm is an efficient analysis tool forhistoriography, the authenticity of paradigm deserves affirmation. Application ofparadigm theory from different aspects expresses the transformation of researchtechnique, the defect of core thesis and the discovery of a new project. The research on Irish-American assimilation reflects the striking characteristicsof the time. Both the introduction of new research methods and the application of newstudying perspectives have been influenced by several reforms of historiography inthe American history. Interpretation of Irish-American assimilation from differentaspects contributes to receiving more projects as was expected. Consequently, it isfeasible and worth popularizing to apply the concept of paradigm.
