The Irish are one of the major groups that come to America in the mid-19th century。There are great economic and political pressure to leave Ireland。The Irish potato famine in the 1840s spurred more emigration to the united states。Because of behavioral,poverty and high crimes, they suffered from prejudice and discrimination。They lived in the north—eastern cities, they worked hard jobs,low wages, but they provided aid for the new arrivals。They contributed to the developing of American economics monopolized political leadship in the cities; contributed the American Catholicism reform; in the labor movement, Irish pursued the reformism。The full text is divided into three parts:namely introduction,body and conclusion。The introduction is about the research results in the literature at home and abroad。The body consists of four parts:the first part is about the cause of the Irish immigrant, the research from two aspects:one is domestic factors, another is American factors。The root cause is the exploitation of England, the important cause is the temping of American。The second part is about the constitution of Irish immigrant, about the quantity,road and character。The third part is about the living of the Irish immigrant, about dwell,occupation and so on.
