Shaoxing opera,same as Zhejiang Yueju Opera,"The Red Chamber Dream" is one of the masterwork. At present, Shaoxing opera "The Red Chamber Dream" there are several versions, each version has a different style of music. This paper from the perspective of foreigner, explores some questions.How to make so different style of music, how to shape their characters, and what kind of technique to interpret the dramatic expression on the different versions etc.This paper consists of three chapters:the first chapter is the historical review and order the version of ever published "The Red Chamber Dream". It is clear also the music history and musical characteristics. The second chapter is analysis works, object of analysis is two different version of" The Red Chamber Dream":the film version of1962Shanghai Yueju Opera Troupe’s and the stage version of1986Fujian Fang Hua Yueju Opera Troupe’s. Including overall music of singing, background music, drums, back chorus etc.(limited to the main melody).Although the same writer Xu Jin’s script, its artistic style are in different.About the analysis steps:first of all, do the structural analysis for grasped whole work’s situation of music, and then, draw a comparison. The third chapter is more theoretical thinking.
