After several months’ joint efforts of the author and supervisor, the translation report hasbeen finished. The following essay includes two main sections, the English-Chinesetranslation and the translation report. As the main section of the essay, the translator first does a description of the task whichincludes a brief introduction of this project and the analysis on the character of the translationmaterial. And then comes the preparation for the translation, in which there are three parts–collecting of different translation versions that have been published before, unification on theproper nouns and selection of reference. The translation process is after the preparation, whichincludes two parts. The first part shows the readers a translation theory and application that ishow Tytler’s translation theory guides the translator’s translation practice, in which thetranslator briefly introduces Tytler’s translation principles. The second part is the process fortranslation and modification. In the following most important section, the translator exhibits analysis on translationexamples that are collected during the process when the translator translates the Englisharticle. There are four major problems: how to deal with the problem of adjusting translationorder; how to accord the translation with target language; how to supply and rewrite;difficulty of understanding. Through these examples, the translator clearly shows difficultpoints and means of tackling them. In the last section, the translator draws a conclusion whichnot only embraces the importance of translation theory towards practice but the quality andresponsibility that a translator should have as well.
