Yunnan Zhima Visual Symbol Discovery

Yunnan Zhima is mainly distributed in the North East and West region of Yunnan, including the nationalities of Bai, Han, Yi, Tibetan, Naxi, Lisu and Dai etc. Yunnan Zhima is an important part of Chinese culture which has a long history and relatively rich cultural connotation, and it not only has the local meaning to study the history and culture of ethnic minorities in Yunnan, but also has the universal significance to research Chinese folk culture. Research on Yunnan ethnic culture and history not only has a positive meaning for the semantic interpretation of Yunnan Zhima visual symbols, cultural characteristics, artistic characteristics and the study of context, but also has a positive significance for the heritage and modernization of Yunnan history and culture.This article is based on the consultion of literature at home and abroad and the design practice.Semiotics principle was used on it to analyze yunnan Zhima visual symbols and the meaning of it’s folk customs. besides,the necessary materials or tools, production methods were also dicussed. From the aspects of color, composition, shape as well as the technique of expression to analyze its artistic features.Yunnan Zhima pattern is studied from the direction of visual art and semiotics theory, and study on Yunnan Zhima and visual symbols can expand the research and application field for semiotics and visual arts and make the ethnic culture of Yunnan Zhima inheritance deeply understood. Yunnan Zhima is a visual art symbol and has rich patterns. According to the Yunnan Zhima religious content, symbolic meaning and folklore meaning, the culture of nationality, times and our daily life are combined and the works with times and modem aesthetic is created by continuous innovation, and finally the advantage of Yunnan Zhima can be released and commercialized, so Yunnan Zhima will go to market positively. The Zhima of rich species can be applied in product appearance packaging design, advertising, home furnishing, fashion and so on. Yunnan Zhima is the art works which is created by generations working people, and some art works have gone over the years, but few can be handed down. Yunnan Zhima can spread so far because people constantly make creation by combining the folk customs and life needs, and the inheritance of national culture is retained that is come down from the ancient people. So, Yunnan Zhima has its own unique artistic style and modeling characteristics which is a precious historical and cultural heritage of our country.
