In1980s, with the explorer’s courage, MaYuan presented the Tibetan life and culture, and tried the art’s pioneer experiment with great interest. At the same time, he wrote many works as the background of Tibet, and those works arouse people’s rich imagination and desire to Tibet. Mayuan’s Tibetan novel is like a exotic flower among the new period novels.The thesis makes a comprehensive research to MaYuan’s Tibetan novel from the perspective of academic theory and text. This thesis is divided into four parts, the first part is introduction, which overviews the MaYuan’s experience, works creation and influence, and introduces the state of research, research purposes and the research significance. The second part is chapter one, which discusses the important Tibetan information, including geography, life and society. The third part is chapter two, and researches the Tibetan characters that MaYuan shaped. There are four kinds of character according to analysis of character spirit, noble and pure soul, all beings transformed under the collision between tradition and modern spirit, female’s tragedy life, and "little men’s" life modality in modern society. The forth part is chapter three, which probes into the Tibetan novel’s Tibetan culture. Tibetan Buddhism is main part of Tibetan culture. To pursue ideal of "shambhala"and reality is real life’s common existence. Fatalism is the distinctive feature of Tibetan.culture spirit, and it also is MaYuan and his Tibetan novel’s spirit platform. The fifth part is chapter four, which researches MaYuan’s narrative art "metafiction""edge of the narrative" and his writing bottleneck. The six part is conclusion, which summarizes the overall value of MaYuan’s Tibetan novel, and the inspiration that MaYuan brings to Chinese contemporary novel.
