The Study On Narrative About Leaving The Land Of Li Peifu’s Local Novels

Li Peifu gives a high degree of attention to the phenomenon of farmers’leaving their lands in his local novels. He shaped the images of the farmers abstaining land,and leaving land become a prominent theme in Li Peifu’s local novels. Narrative about leaving the land has set two major opposing groups in Li Peifu’s local novels, namely the farmers abstaining land and the farmers defending land, who represent urban culture and rural civilization. The author reveals the conflict in urban and rural areas under the opposing civilization between the urban and rural dual structure through narration, and the author’s reflection of modernity in China. He demonstrates his value standpoint of supporting native culture and rejecting the city’s cultural. Li Peifu’s cultural value standpoint implicated definite historical limitations. It will inevitably lead to the plight of the creation.This article is divided into three chapters to analyze the narrative about leaving the land in Li Peifu’s local novels. Chapter I focuses on the social background of the phenomenon of farmers’leaving their lands, defining the concept of narrative of abstaining land, as well as pruning out away from the narrative about leaving the land in the development history of Chinese modern and contemporary literature through the analysis of the background of different periods and writing psychology of writers. Chapter Ⅱ develops from culture perspective, and is based on Li Peifu’s local novels. The author analyzed the causes of leaving the land, as well as the farmers’survival state and psychological feel in the city. The author reveals contradictions and values’changes of the farmers in the survival of city, and concerns precarious status of native civilization which is represented by the farmers defending land in urbanization process. Through those aspects, Li Peifu analyzed the narrative about leaving the land and culture implication in his local novels. Chapter III focuses on analysis of the author’s cultural value standpoint. Face of modernity, the author showed his value standpoint of supporting native culture and rejecting the city’s cultural, which is caused by the objective and subjective reasons, including modern society’s ills, author local experience, and other factors. Author does not see the necessity of the development of modern society and the active role of history. Therefore, the author’s cultural value standpoint has the historical limitations.Li Peifu’s cultural value standpoint actually shows that the author has not objectively clear understanding of modernity, which inevitably becomes bottlenecks of his creation. Local novels in the new historical period, contains new "local experience", which is what local nnovelists should reflect on the issue, including Li Peifu.
