The Research Of The "Ban X Bu Y" Structure

“Ban X bu Y” is a structure format which is often used in modern Chinesespoken language，while the research on it is relatively inadequate. On this article, theauthor will try to borrow the ideas of cognitive linguistics theory to expound someexplanations on the basis of predecessors’ study.In chapter Ⅰ, the author will mainly introduce the significance of the topic,present research situation, the theory methods and the sources of this thesis’ content.In chapter II, the author divides it into three parts. In the first part, analysis willbe mainly focused on the features of the “ban X bu y” format, including the part ofspeech and function of “ban” and “bu”, the part of speech, whether it is a word andthe order of iconicity principle of the selection mechanism. In the second part,discuss will be mainly concentrated on the syntactic function of the structure of “banX bu Y”. In the third part, syntactic features of this format will be discussed indetails.In chapter III, the author divides it into four parts. In the first part, analysis willbe mainly on the semantic relationship and cognitive restraint mechanism of X and Y.In the second part, the author will discuss “ban” and “bu” from the semantic features.In the third part, the semantic orientation of the “ban X bu Y” format will beexpounded. In the fourth part, the author will discuss the pragmatic functions of the“ban X bu Y” format.Chapter IV can be divided into two parts. In the first part, the author mainly usesthe conceptual integration theory to describe the integration grade of “Ban X bu Y”format internal members. In the second part, with the use of the metaphor theory ofcognitive linguistics, a further analysis and research will be proceeded.In chapter V, the author will summarize the whole thesis and come to aconclusion.
