Research On Structure"A But Not B" In Modern Chinese Language

"Four words group"is extremely significant word unit both in ancient and modern Chinese language. We found in actual language application, the frequency of this word format is increased continuous; however, the unit study of this format is not much, especially the research of the frequently used format"A but not B"is rarely.By this article, with the research object"A but not B", we plan to probe this format through three aspects. First of all, by studying and analyzing its structure and syntax function also by many-sided analyses, we are trying to discover the structure and syntax characteristics of this format. After studying and analyzing, we think this format should be regarded as predicate phrase format with describe and assess character.The relations in semantics and the value in pragmatics are also the key point in this article. We classify the pragmatics by combining the semantics"A"and"B"in the format."A"and"but not B"in the"A but not B"format can be classified as two types:"transitional"and"parallel". Pragmatics in the parallel"A but not B"format usually describing some conditions or the behavior itself. It is static describing. However, the pragmatics in transitional format is dynamically showing some result caused by some conditions. It is inference in logic. On the view of format and outer chapters, the basic functions of format is stating, describing, and summarizing. The unique value of pragmatics in the format boosts the abundant existing and extensive use.At last, we have tried to perceive and analyze the"A but not B"format by applying the relative conception of metaphor theory and conformity theory also combining the analyses of format with the static and dynamic recognizing process. We found the process of recognizing the format embodied of recognizing of human psychological characterization. It fully approved the unique charm of Chinese language which with the history of five thousands history.
