Giorgio Morandi (1890-1964) is an outstanding painter in modern painting history of Italy who has the world influence, both in the paintings and etchings has obtained the high praise. But why his artistic style is very difficult and simple to any one genre in the modern painting? It may because of his works are not only inherited the early Renaissance Italy traditional painting, and absorb the including Cezanne,"futurism","metaphysical" and other art schools of art essence, at the same time into his thinking on the essence, which makes his picture in stark contrast of his contemporaries modern painting. This is why in the20’s to the mid40’s of this period of time, his art was given short shrift, and bend to the second-rate artists, this phenomenon until the late40’s of the nineteenth Century, his painting art is to return to the art’s attention, and gained worldwide fame. In addition, Morandi exists in the western art of modernism master, why Barr Thys said that Morandi is the most close to the Chinese painting artists in Europe? Why after the reform and open policy, a large number of western contemporary art began to flood into China, Morandi’s painting art soon attracted the attention of Chinese artists? What is the pursuit of art of Morandi, he etched engraving painting unique form language and Chinese art aesthetic has what meeting point? In order to solve a series of questions, this paper will be from the four aspects to discussed:The first chapter: mainly to introduce the life of Morandi and his art footprint. To understand why he is the Italy Renaissance paintier, what impact of Cubism, futurism, understanding the formation of metaphysical and Cezanne modernism painting and the painter to Morandi’s idea of art; what is Morandi on the long way of painting has been insisting and pursuit, a sort of such an art experience, is conducive to the understanding of Morandi more.The second chapter:introduce Morandi’s etchings of the object and landscape;The third chapter: As the analysis of Morandi’s experience for the foundation, standing in the Chinese vison to explore Morandi’s hermit orientation, such as quiet indifferent attitude towards life as well as by the "Object" to "Dao" metaphysical sublimation art pursuit;The fourth chapter: With the Oriental aesthetic perspective to interpretation of the formal language of the etched engraving of Morandi, and from the unique perspective, the simple objects and the picture color tone, to analysis the similarities between Morandi and the Chinese traditional painting art, to obtain a new understanding of the etching art of Morandi.
