Professor Tan Yong has extensive clinical experience in the diagnoses andtreatment of Perimenopause Syndrome. This thesis will summarize her academicthinking and clinical research from root cause, mechanism, herbal recipe, as well asthe diagnosis and treatment based on an overall analysis of the illness and thepatient’s condition.Professor Tan think that the major pathogenesis of Perimenopause Syndrome isthe heart and kidney function out of balance. The base of this disease is asthenia ofkidney and yin-deficiency. Mentally unstable facilitate the disease occur. Heart andkidney fail to coordinate each other create all menopausal symptoms. For thetreatment, Professor Tan Yong proposes to coordinate the function of heart andkidney, regulating yin and yang.During the treatment, Professor Tan always value the function of spleen andstomach. When she write out a herbal recipe, Professor Tan stick to some ruleswhich are clearing away heat but not over use bitter and cold herbs; expelling coldbut not over use acrid and hot herbs; using moderate herbs to invigorating the kidneyto nourish yin. In addition, she tries to restore kidney-yin, maintain the balance ofheart and kidney by means of application of herbs to clear heart-heat and relieveuneasiness of body and mind. Thereby, improve coordination of the kidney-yin andheart-heat. Professor Tan Yong has used this method treat Perimenopause Syndromewith notable curative success.At same time, Professor Tan recommend that use varied ways to treatPerimenopause Syndrome, such as, psychological counseling, Qi-Gong therapy,physical exercise, etc. That will help patient rebalance yin-yang and control menopausal symptoms. During the period of perimenopause, both invigorating thekidney and providing physical and mental relaxation are important for prevent andreduce Perimenopause Syndrome occur.
