Objective: Previously,usually use neuropsychological test under the condition of laboratory evaluation executive function in patients with epilepsy,but the result can’t reflect patients’ executive function in the daily life,it’s short of ecological validity.The main purpose of this study was:(1)Is there have executive dysfunction in the children with idiopathic or cryptogenic epilepsy in daily life.(2) To explore the influence factors of executive dysfunction.Methods:Compare50children with idiopathic or cryptogenic epilepsy against50normal ones of the same gender,age group and educational level. All the subjects’ parents have completed the Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function(BRIEF),then,multivariate regression analysis of ecological executive dysfunction. A p value of less than0.05was viewed as significantly difference.Results:The scores of Children with idiopathic or cryptogenic epilepsy in global executive composite(GEC),behavioral regulation index(BRI) and metacognition index(MI) of BRIEF(respectively,55.12±10.49、53.74±10.35、56.60±10.99) are significantly higher (P<0.01) than those of the control group(respectively,48.10±6.35、47.18±5.84、48.16±6.23). Multiple stepwise Linear Regression analysis showed that4clinical features namely seizure type, gender, age and epilepsy control are closely related to BRIEF while factors such as educational level, outbreak age, course of disease, family history and antiepileptic drugs are not relevant to BRIEF.Conclusions:The ecological executive function of children with idiopathic or cryptogenic epilepsy is faulty for it is easily swayed by seizure type,gender,age,epilepsy control.
