ObjectiveThe large amount of research at home and abroad has shown that high arsenic exposure is closely related with disease of cardiovascular system. The influence of low arsenic exposure on cardiovascular system of population is still rare. And the existing research more confined to the animal and cell culture in vitro study. So this topic focus on the relationship between long-term exposure to arsenic and blood pressure and Electrocardiogram (ECG) in order to investigate the effects of low arsenic exposure on cardiovascular system in endemic arsenic poisoning area.Methods180people, lived in arsenic exposure area for more than25years, were choose as exposed group, including male61and female119, mean age55.93years.194people as control group, including male75and female119, average age54.98years. All of people have been living in their community at least25years. All of people signed the informed consent. Plum blossom sampling figure method is used to collect residents’drinking water, take100ml in each sampling point,-80℃saved for later use. Take10ml water to join1ml5%thiourea ascorbic acid-mixed reagent solution, blending, reaction after30min, by AFS-9130atomic spectrophotometer at450nm wavelength detection under the water for arsenic. The arsenic content of local water was up to14.41-90.34ug/L, more than the national standard (10ug/L), belongs to the low arsenic exposure area (<100μg/L), control group drinking water in which the content of arsenic was0-0.87μg/L, reach drinking water hygiene standards. The investigator are through professional training. Using electronic blood pressure meter and a12-lead electrocardiogram meter, these residents had a medical examination by clinical doctors trained professionally. Blood pressure and ECG were measured. Two experienced cardiovascular physician analyzed all the electrocardiograms.Result The difference between this two abnormal blood pressure rates has the statistically significant.(χ2=3.935,P<0.05). The difference between exposure group and control group on single abnormal rate of systolic blood pressure has the statistically significant (χ2=4.303, P<0.05). The difference between this two group on the single Diastolic abnormalities rate doesn’t has the statistical significance (χ2=0.224,P>0.05). The ECG abnormalities rate in the exposure group was65%and it was29.9%in the non-exposed Group. The difference between these two groups has the statistically significant(χ2=46.21, P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the Q~T lengthened in the ECG, Sinus arrhythmia, ST-T segment changes, premature and the abnormal rate of low voltage were increased significantly. And also it has the statistical significance,(the values of χ2were4.578,5.455,5.308,5.237,6.112, and the values of P<0.05).ConclusionsThe low exposure of arsenic could cause abnormal blood pressure and ECG in the crowd. Low exposure of arsenic is closely associated with the occurrence of cardiovascular disease. Therefore, the low exposure of arsenic has a significant impact on the cardiovascular system.
