Embedded teeth is a common malocclusion in the clinical orthodontictreatment, which seriously affects craniofacial development, oral healthand functions, also destroys the dentition integrity and personalappearance. Embedded teeth is refers to the not naturally eruptedpermanent teeth embedded in alveolar bone long-term,exceeded normaleruption time after shedding or extraction of deciduous teeth, althoughthe crown or part of the crown has been basically formed. The embeddedteeth are mainly caused by insufficient spaces for permanent teetheruption or abnormal eruption position. The impacted teeth except wisdom teeth are mostly in maxillary anteriorregion,,especially occur in the maxillary canine.Surgically guidederuption is a method combined with surgical operation in clinicalorthodontic treatment to remove the resistance in time in the process oferuption and expose the crown of impacted teeth. These impacted teethinclude ectopic teeth, rotated teeth, lower teeth and inclined teethoccurring in the maxillary central incisor, lateral incisor and canine.Theexposed crown surface is bonded with hook or braces, then we use themethod of orthodontic traction to assist these abnormal position teeth slowly returning to normal dental arch,in order to restore the functionand dental appearance of the dentition. The method of surgically guided eruption in the treatment ofmalocclusion caused by the impacted teeth avoids extraction of impactedteeth and using fixed or movable denture to repair defects, which makesthe most of the embedded teeth can be retained and reduce the numberof teeth extracted in the process of orthodontic treatment. The treatmentof impacted teeth is significantly effective using the method of surgicallyguided eruption combined with orthodontic treatment, so we can applythe method in clinical treatment。This research chose13patients who were treated with the method ofsurgically guided eruption since February2013to March2014in ourdepartment, then we make introductions about indications, contraindications, surgical methods and effect of the clinical treatment, etc. Methods:we chose13patients who were treated with the method ofsurgically guided eruption in the process of orthodontic treatment ofembedded teeth.Male were7,and female were6.Embedded teeth:maxillary central incisors were6, maxillary lateral incisors were1,Itwas extracted, because it is too loose to afford the orthodontic treatment.maxillary canine were7.Open surgically guided eruption were8,closedsurgically guided eruption were5. Results: Except a patient who was operated secondary surgery becauseof the orthodontic attachments off within one week after the firstoperation, all cases were successfully completed the operation, and thepostoperative tissues returned to normal.Patients are satisfied with thesurgery and still in the successful treatment of orthodontic. Conclusion: The method of surgically guided eruption can effectivelyshorten the teeth eruption time besides the third molars.
